Karin Folkers

Karin, a third generation horsewoman, is no stranger to the show ring. Karin was raised on her family’s Windy Hill Farm in Frankfort Il. She worked hard & learned her trade with passion. Karin has trained & shown numerous world champions, most notably WGCH CH The Red Ferrari, WC CH Keeper of the Stars, and most recently the always crowd favorite, CH Iconium. Karin is best known for being able to bring out the best in young horses. She sees each horse as a “blank slate” and works with the horse’s natural talent to bring out the best results. She believes in ensuring that every horse she trains goes on to have a happy and productive life, whether that be in the show ring or as someone’s personal pleasure horse.

Karin is a firm believer in having her riders learn equitation,( the art or practice of horse riding or horsemanship. More specifically, equitation refers to a rider’s position while mounted, and encompasses a rider’s ability to ride correctly and with effective aids). She believes that being a good equitation rider equates with good horsemanship. She has seen her riders win in many different divisions & disciplines on the local & National level.

Karin’s children, Justin and Katelyn Smith are talented horsemen as well and an integral part of the Seven Oaks team.

“A friend of mine told me about Seven Oaks and their Riding Academy. My daughter is now a student and is enjoying every minute of it.”
